Sinds 2013 maakte Mum geen album meer. ‘History Of Silence’ is hun zevende studio album. Een lang proces van opname, via deconstructie, herstructueren, verfijnen en uiteindelijk afronden. Mum bleef steeds rondcirkelen in een vruchtbaar palet van elektronica en analoge geluiden. De plaat is in eerste instantie in Zuid-Italië opgenomen. De arrangementen all over the place, in Reykjavik, Berlijn, Athene, Helsinki, New York en Praag en uiteindelijk de strijkpartijen in IJsland, die domineren niet, integendeel ze zijn dienend en voegen subtiel diepte en resonantie toe. A collection of bold and colorful songs, no matter how muted they might sound at times. They tickle like a feather drifting through the wind, ending up in unexpected places, stimulating long-forgotten thoughts and feelings, intimate moments of introspection.
